Tips for finding hotels in China
Hotel room costs in China are wild, wilder than you what you could image!
We do not recommend you to stay in those hundreds of dollors per night hotels. If you are new in China, here are some tips for you:
<
1) Do not ask travel agency to book your hotel unless you absolutely have to. If you do have to, state clearly to the agency of your upper limit.
2) If you know some body (native Chinese) in China, ask him (her) to book or find hotels for you.
3) 3-star hotels cost about 100-300 Yuan (US $15-$45) per night depending on cities and locations. These hotels are pretty clean and are OK to stay. The are comparable to motels here in USA. Some of them even have free breakfasts.
4) 4-star hotels cost from 200 to 500 Yuan ($30-$65) and these are more than good enough to stay if you pay by youself.
5) Fancy hotels in Shanghai and Beijing and many capital cities costs a few hundreds, or even thousands USD per night if you prefer to stay in those.
6) Please note that all hotels in China have two price tags: List and discount. So when you enter a hotel reception hall, you will see the list prices on the board, which are usually twice as expensive as the discout prices. The discount prices are the ones that hotels are ready to sell their rooms to you. So be sure to ask the discout prices if you check in alone.
7) If possible, do not book hotel rooms online by yourself. Only the expensive hotels have online reservation website in English so you will be sure to get the expensive rooms.
